AARON'S VALUES

Live. Learn. Work. Dare.
LIVE
Healthcare - Housing - Clean Water - Immigration - Public Safety - Social Justice
Aaron believes that compassionate solutions are not only kind and just, they are smart. It's our responsibility to each other and to our democracy to defend civil liberties and stand up for women's rights, workers' rights, LGBT rights, and rights for people with disabilities. All people deserve to be heard and, when necessary, helped. This means that if our neighbor needs a buck for food, we do what we can to make sure he gets that buck. If our neighbor needs to see a doctor, we make sure that she can, and not go bankrupt while doing so. Aaron believes in healthcare for all, and that a single-payer system is the best avenue to get there. If our neighborhood is threatened, we ensure it's protected. We should meet the opioid crisis with treatment opportunities, not harsher penalties. Aaron believes that marijuana should be removed as a schedule one drug, and regulated and taxed instead. Seniors shouldn't be met with the bare minimum to get by, but a recognition of their contributions with a safe and sustainable retirement. Aaron knows that when the government works for everyone, it makes our lives safer (think seat-belts), healthier (think school breakfast), smarter (think Mr. Rogers), and more fun (think parks).
LEARN
Education - Family Issues - Veterans Support - Job Creation
Aaron was a public school teacher for nearly a decade and understands that strong public schools are the cornerstones to thriving communities, and that compassionate and talented teachers deserve to be treated like the highly-skilled professionals that they are. If a public school is struggling, the answer is not to bleed it of resources and its most-talented teachers, but rather to ensure that every school has the funding, facilities, and professionals it needs to deliver a top-tier education to every student. Aaron also understands that if we're going to be serious about improving public schools, we must be serious about addressing childhood poverty. He knows that batteries of tests in the name of school accountability unfairly and disproportionately affect schools with more economically disadvantaged families, and that casting blame on schools and teachers while depriving them of the resources they need is simply wrong. Finally, Aaron believes in expanding both ends of our education spectrum with high-quality early childhood programs on one end and affordable, supportive postsecondary options on the other.
WORK
Economic Justice - Union Support - Equal Pay for Equal Work - Social Security
Aaron grew up learning that everyone's work was important. Machinists, moms, drivers, nurses, business-people, retirees, service-workers, those without work, and those who are overworked; he understands that we all bring value to our community and we all deserve to be heard. Aaron thinks that it's barbaric that women make less than men for the same work. This injustice needs to change. He also thinks the economy only works well when our poor and working class friends are getting a larger share, and when those who have done well for themselves feel honored and empowered to share a bit more. The economy has done well in the last several years, but almost entirely for the millionaire and billionaire class. Average Americans have seen their wages stagnate, and Aaron's priorities are focused on ensuring that wages grow for everyone, and not only for the privileged wealthy insiders.
DARE
Science-based Policy - Diplomacy - Environmental Justice - Innovation
Aaron Anthony believes the only way we can solve our biggest problems like climate change, economic and social inequality, and global political instability is with honest debates and big ideas. Aaron knows that there has never been a better time in human history to be alive, and that by investing in research and technology,  respecting expert opinion and science-based policy solutions, and learning from our mistakes, we can build a better country.
